Performing Musician Chronicles 1

Image
Enjoy the song. THIS JOURNEY OF YOU. c Ann R. Silverman-Limor aka Rahel All Rights Reserved Life as a musician. Wow, was this really nine years ago? Jason "Skulls" Freitas and I formed a duo we called "ROOTES". We played my original music in venues and festivals in and around New Hampshire and Massachusetts.    On this particular day we were invited to perform at what was slated to be a huge music rock festival in Manchester, NH .  The Granite Rock Music Festival  was meant to be a fundraiser for "Toys for Tots" organized by a team of college students or group called "Applause for the Cause". They had done everything right. They advertised everywhere and flyers were posted all over town. At the site trailers were provided for the musicians with snacks and drinks. Very respectable. They even had carnival rides in place. Everything looked as if it would be the perfect rock festival featuring awesome local talent.  We

Then I usually go home to learn the song requested for the next time. I must have at least 1000 songs in my tablet all ready for your requests!  The songs presented on this video, however, are all originals by me.  If you like what you hear you can TIP

"Why did you come back as a Jew?"

Image
Disclaimer:  I realize that delving into this subject is risky business. Please note that this is my own spiritual journey.  My views in this post are my own and are not meant to offend anyone.   "Why did you come back as a Jew?" It was 1998 and I had been living in Israel for twenty-two years. I was thinking about returning to the USA for a short stint. I had decided to see a very good and trustworthy psychic to help me sort out my thoughts. I learned a lot about my past and present life as I contemplated my next steps. This was an important turning point in my life. I remember that in one particular session the psychic stated, "You might want to ask yourself why you chose to come back in this life as a Jew?" I am Jewish, born to two Jewish parents and raised Jewish in the USA. I lived in the Jewish state of Israel for twenty-two years where I married a Jewish man and raised Jewish kids (now amazing young adults). No-one had ever asked me why? I had ne

Winter Busking 1: Original Songs by Rahel!

First of all let me just say that I LOVE BUSKING!  Busking is another word for street singing. It's my absolute favorite thing to do. I meet so many wonderful people this way. They seem to enjoy my original music and also like making requests. I do my best at singing the songs they love to hear. If I don't know the song I will suggest something similar. Then I usually go home to learn the song requested for the next time. I must have at least 1000 songs in my tablet all ready for your requests!  It's now mid-November in Seoul, South Korea and it's COLD!!! This means that busking outdoors is no longer an option. Now that we have Internet and the ability to perform "Live" online I have started a new online series called "Winter Busking". This is the first installment via Facebook . I've already done a few others on Instagram but failed to save them.  The songs on this video are all original, except for the Happy Birthday song and

An Entertainer in South Korea (3)

"My mother's in a fascinating place in her life right now." I tell my friends. XD I'm on my way to a "shoot with animals" (that's what I was told). I soon learned I'd be working with a dog for this shoot. I'm okay with that. I had a previous shoot with a dog.    Here in South Korea they're usually little dogs so it's okay!  This part of my life... this time in my life feels like a dream. Sometimes, as I am on my way and look around me, it all feels surreal. I'm in South Korea. I'm not Asian. I don't look Asian. People notice me and they smile and nod their heads to acknowledge me. I nod and smile back. Often they engage me in conversation. "Where are you from? Why are you in Korea?"  I tell them that I am here working in entertainment. As I say it I can hardly believe it myself. Most non-Koreans are English teachers. Me? I'm "living the dream". Is this what I was d

I'm a Journalist in Korea 11: BEN-HUR; The Battle for Jerusalem; The Musical

Image
* Published in this blog only. BEN-HUR; The Battle for Jerusalem; The Musical By Kim Miso aka Rahel Limor First things first – everyone should see this musical. I mean EVERYONE! It is the musical of musicals. I simple don’t have the words to describe how absolutely incredible it is. From the first to the final act and everything in between, you will not be disappointed. That said, let me get to my review. Call me ignorant but until now I had no idea that the fictional story, “Ben-Hur”, a novel written by author Lew Wallace in 1880, is a Jewish story. To this day I thought that “Ben” was the first name of the leading character and “Hur” was his family name. The fact is that his full Hebrew name is “Yehuda ben Hur’ or in English, Judah  son of  Hur. Perhaps I was too young when the Hollywood version was released to fully understand. One single visual sticks out in my mind, that of the infamous actor Charlton Heston dressed in ancient Roman garb riding on a chariot.

An Entertainer in South Korea (2)

This video was produced by Eran Limor and his friend, Aurelia.  I thank you with all my heart and love!     I hope that you have read the first installment of this (blog) series called "An Entertainer in Korea". If not, please do so. It will give you the back story on why I am sharing this "Intro Video" with  you.     Since May 2019 I have been living and working in Seoul, South Korea as an ACTOR, MODEL and MUSICIAN. Also as a JOURNALIST/WRITER.     Surprisingly, at an age when people my age (a youthful 65) are expected (and very happy) to retire I have started a new career. Well, I should say rather that I have finally taken a step up to the next level in my life-long career. I focused on music education, performance and songwriting for most of the early part of my life. After my children had grown I turned towards using music as a healing and therapeutic tool and became a certified clinical musician (CCM). I did some acting as well but mainly for

This acting reel was edited by Eran Limor! Thank you with all my heart and love!     I actually did not come to South Korea to become an actor or to become immersed in the entertainment biz. Though I did come in pursuit of a Korean singer. My main goal was to offer him an original song because I know it belongs to him. Yes, I have many songs that I can call my own, but this one belongs to him. Such is the true nature of songwriting. Anyway, that's a long story and I believe I have already told some of it somewhere in this blog!     I came to Korea as a traveler. It was a place in a part of the world I had never been. My plan was to stay a few months then continue my travels around this side of the world. However, G-d seems to have had other plans for me...    After my first month exploring Seoul I went South to a port city called Busan. I fell in love with Busan and stayed for about 9 months (though two of those months were spent back in Seoul). I spent five of tho

Blue Hair by Rahel

Image
BLUE HAIR © 2019 Ann R. Silverman-Limor aka Rahel They look, they stare. They wonder how I dare To add a little color... BLUE HAIR! I’m free, don’t you see. I’m just being me. Life is full of color. Why be like one another? Which road will you follow Today and tomorrow? Listen to your heart. Every day make a new start. What will they say? What will they think? Dye it black – not pink! But I like green and purple and BLUE HAIR! Life’s too short for retorts. I like oceans and resorts. Take a step to be bolder When you’re young and when you’re older. Let them look, let them stare At the colors that you wear. Invite them to embrace the view. Remind them they can do it too! It makes our world a little lighter When you’re shining even brighter. So don’t fret, don’t regret. Never forget Life is meant for living For loving and for giving For showing people that you care. BLUE HA
