Northern Jaunt

Image
Israel is full of interesting events and beautiful places to see. I'll be sharing more about sites in future posts. Meantime here is a glimpse from a brief jaunt in Northern Israel.

Starting with a car show (car show??!! yup) in Nahariya, we arrived a bit late which meant that there were not too many cars left to view. Those that we saw were mostly American models. You can see here below:

We decided to continue North to the Achziv Beach and stopped to wade in the water and smell the air of the Mediterranean Sea.

Continuing even further North towards the Lebanese border we stopped at another of my favorite places, Rosh HaNikra. However, we decided to simply take in the beautiful view rather then the walk the entire site or ride the Gondola. Why? We plan to do this trip again in a few weeks with other guests who have never been here.

Turning back we stopped for dinner at "HaBustan", a restaurant in Haifa that serves delicious Mizrahi food (Eastern or Oriental food - essent…

At Home in Israel

Image
I'm here!

I woke up today in Tiverya (Tiberias), Israel. I have a magnificent view of the Kinneret aka the Sea of Galilee.

 Sigh...

The links highlighted in this post will give you a sense of what the region is like, things to do if you are here as a tourist, and a few insights about Israeli life, culture and music.

I'm here first and foremost for a family event - my daughters' wedding!
Wedding?
Yes!

I will be blogging more about Israel in upcoming posts. For now I'll focus on the flight.

I made it out of Boston, all bundled up in my winter clothes, right before the 4th Nor'easter of the season!

Brrrrr....
Are you flying to Israel? I highly recommend EL AL, Israel's airline company (no, I'm not being sponsored for this plug - hint hint).

It's well known that Israel has the best security and technology. What is not well known is the great food you are treated to on El Al. It includes a bagel, cream cheese, pita and my all-time-favorite-can't-live-with…

Chic Chattin

Conservative Chic Chattinis a Nashua, NH radio program that features women; all we are and all we do. I am grateful to have had this opportunity, a day after International Women's Day (March 8th), to speak with hosts Karen and Lynn, two wonderful women themselves. It was a nice interview and chat; a wonderful send off to get started on my new life as a traveler and traveling troubadour.  Please enjoy.

Baltimore's Best

Image
Each time I visit Baltimore (Maryland) I get to enjoy spending time with good friends. It is in this way that I am treated to seeing special handpicked sites; the places chosen by good friends who take joy in sharing the places they love most where they live.
I have two good friends in Baltimore; one from college and another, a colleague and now good friend from my years in Israel. By some unexpected twist of fate they both ended up living about two blocks from each other. This is really nice because when I go I can see both together.
My friend and colleague is Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen, founder of the innovative early literacy program, Mother Goose on the Loose (MGOL). Betsy developed this program while we were living in Israel. We met when we learned together with the late Barbara Cass-Beggs, founder of the Listen Like Learn (LLL) and Your Baby Needs Music programs. We both fast became fans, instructors and teacher trainers. I continued implementing the program and adaptin…

Grounded

Image
So I'm grounded, This was to be my first attempt at taking off. Even though I've made local trips before, this was to be the first trial flight as a nomad. It's winter in New England though. You know what they say about New England? "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute!" So here we are - - it's a  "Nor'easter". I didn't think this storm would affect my flight since I was scheduled for the late afternoon the next day. Then I got a phone call. "Your flight has been cancelled...
