Thursday Afternoon: Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem

There is always something interesting and amazing to do in Israel - especially in Jerusalem. My friends and I took in the Bible Lands Museum on a Thursday afternoon (entrance happened to be free that day!). The museum is located right next to the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book that houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. If you're an avid museum goer than you will want to spend the entire day to visit all three. My friends and I decided to take our time visiting just this one. The website states:

"It is the only museum of its kind in the world, where the civilizations of the Ancient Near East are brought to life from the dawn of civilization to the early Christian era."

The museum is set up with numbered rooms or gallery sections that move you from the earliest civilizations from hunters to city dwellers. It's a fascinating journey through history. You are invited to witness and experience the evolution of the civilizations of man. We see and learn how man progressed physically with discoveries that introduced and fortified weaponry, clothing, housing, community building and more and eventually, with the implementation of writing and paper production how ideas, concepts and theologies marking the distinctions between gods, goddesses and the One G-D were born and how they impacted life.

The brochure below will give you an overview of what your will see. I highly recommend a visit!
