My Granddaughter turned me on to K-POP!!

Yesterday my 4-year-old granddaughter requested a song which totally surprised me!!

My granddaughter loves music and sings all the time. When she was a baby, we played her the ever popular (in our family!) "Listen Like Learn/Your Baby Needs Music" collection of songs & rhymes.

Your Child Needs Music (119 Songs & Rhymes in English) | Galilee Grandma

We always listen to music in the car. She seems to always have a favorite song she wants to hear. It used to be nursery rhymes. This past year, however, she had advanced to Beatles songs: "Yellow Submarine" and most recently "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"!!

Yesterday she totally floored me when she asked for .... wait for it..... K-POP!!!! WTF???? I couldn't believe my ears. Did she really just ask for K-POP??????

Sheesh - remember how I was mocked over the years when I became a fan and then an addict of K-Pop (music, dramas, movies) and finally ended up by some fluke as an actor in South Korea appearing in those same K-Pop features?!! I guess I was ahead of the curve back in 2012.

So here it was. My 4-year-old granddaughter asking for some K-pop song???!!! She even sang me the melody.

I wasn't sure about the song. I wasn't up to date on the latest hits, and I was sure this was one of them. I tried searching through my K-Pop favorites. Nope. Not them. Finally, I texted my daughter who sent me the link. I uploaded the song and as we drove home she happily sang along with the latest K-Pop tune, "Golden" by Huntrx.

I was curious as to how my granddaughter knew about this music? So I asked her. “America” she said.

As it turns out she was exposed to a K-Pop animated film a few months ago while on a visit to the USA.
